Blooming Success : An insight into Wedding Bouquets with Khun Aim, Owner of Vlyn Floral Design Studio Bangkok, Thailand

Wedding bouquets often receive less attention amidst the hustle of wedding preparations. Yet, they aren’t just exquisite accessories; they carry timeless connotations of love, beauty and personal style.

Today I managed to get hold of Khun Aim to address a few questions that many brides of mine have about their wedding bouquets.

Me: Is a bouquet really just a bouquet? Can you tell our readers more about how a bride can usually personalize their wedding bouquet?

Aim: My suggestion for the bride is that they have to think about the style of their gown first. The size of the bouquet will then be designed to match their height followed by their color scheme and types of flowers.

Now, when it comes to the choice of flowers, its actually a lot harder than it looks!

Me: Oh really? Can you please elaborate more about this?

Aim: So, when I pick the flowers to use, I normally factor in the colour scheme as well as the personality of the couple and the message they wish to communicate to each other. Here are a few examples of the flowers I like to use and the meaning behind each one:

  • Peonies are often associated with romance, prosperity, and good fortune. They symbolize a happy marriage and are a popular choice for weddings.
  • Garden roses generally symbolize love, gratitude, and appreciation. They are often chosen for their classic beauty and fragrance.
  • Ranunculus flowers represent charm and attractiveness. They can also symbolize radiant and vibrant charm.
  • Freesias are often associated with innocence and thoughtfulness. They can symbolize friendship and trust.
  • Calla lilies have various meanings depending on the color. In general, they symbolize beauty, purity, and devotion. White calla lilies are often used in weddings and represent purity and innocence.

Things become interesting here because I would have to mix and match the couple’s request as well as ensure the composition of the bouquet remains beautiful!

Me: What is the difference between a ‘free bouquet’ and professional service bouquets?

Aim: The difference is refinement and composition of the arrangement. As a person who specializes in flower arrangements, I do hope you would prefer my designs a little bit more!

(It’s not easy to tie of the stems nicely in a spiral shape with all the additional material. 😉)

On a serious note, there are pros and cons for going with either avenue. If budget is a factor for you, perhaps going the route of a free bouquet is probably the better option. However, if you do have the budget, your investment in a professionally done Wedding Bouquet will make your wedding photos pop!

Me: Your bouquet is so nice, can I keep it?

Aim: Haha, sure you can! Just place the bouquet in a vase with water. Maybe even take petals of the favorite flowers and keep it in a book/ diary with a Polaroid photo of the bouquet. 😊

Me: Should a bride create a bouquet base on the season? Are there any seasonal flower examples you can give the brides?

I think in general they should create a bouquet based on the theme of their wedding once they have a color scheme then the florist can suggest what is available during that particular time. For seasonal flower, if they wed in Autumn 🍂 then it would be Dahlia, Anemone, Astilbe, Ranunculus in a warm color palette of burgundy reds, oranges and yellows.

My advice here is to plan ahead because supply can get very tricky. Most of the flowers I use are imports and it doesn’t come in every week!

Me: For those who want to use your service, can you tell us more about your pricing as well as how they can get in touch with you?

Our bridal bouquet starts from 6,000 baht. General bouquets starts from 4,000 baht and vase arrangement starts from 4,500 baht including delivery fee.
